To celebrate International Youth Day, we invite everyone to bring along young family members, friends and students to our free workshops to experience how meditation can assist with establishing mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well being for inner peace.

Workshops will be facilitated by youth, parents and carers who have been meditating for many years. They will explain how meditation works and then guide you through simple meditation techniques which you can practise on your own or with us at our free weekly classes.

About International Youth Day

International Youth Day was declared by the United Nations to remind the public of the importance of youth as a stage of life and is annually celebrated worldwide on 12th August. On International Youth Day, the youth are at the centre of our collective attention.

According to the Western European definition, the youth are boys and girls between 13 and 21. During this period of time, they go through adolescence – the process of finding their own identity – finish school, start a career and leave their parental homes to study, travel or work towards future goals. Due to all of the challenges of this period, the United Nations considers this annual International Youth Day relevant.

Importance of collective meditation

Quotes from HH Shri Mataji about collectivity and meditation.

“So on one side you have to achieve your Self Realisation in a way that you put yourself beyond the mind, one way, through meditation. And the second way is to give Realisations to others. And must attend collective meditation, very important. You have to be active in it.”

“And then in Sahaj Yoga, as you know, that collective growth is the only way we understand Sahaj Yoga. Somebody knows something, somebody knows something else, somebody knows something else. When we are collective, then we really understand every aspect of Sahaj Yoga.”

“But going for the collective meditation, you’ll be amazed that Divinity is flowing there. Vibrations are flowing there. I am there. It’s not that you are just going there just as a ritual.”

About Burwood Ashram

Shri Mataji has stayed at Burwood many times over the years and the centre carries Her vibrations. Sahaja Yogis meet regularly there to meditate together which nourishes our Self Realisation and spiritual growth.

What is Self Realisation?

Self Realisation is the awakening of our own nurturing and mothering Kundalini energy which is the key to thoughtless awareness during meditation, also known as mental silence. The flow of a gentle cool breeze on the top of the head and on our hands indicates that the Kundalini has been awakened in us. Regular collective and individual meditations further establish our Self Realisation to improve emotional, physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing.

People who meditate regularly, using this meditation technique for around 20 minutes a day, may find they become healthier, calmer and much more relaxed, with an improved outlook on life. Illnesses and ailments can arise due to imbalances in the subtle system. Through Sahaja Yoga meditation one can correct, balance and nourish the subtle energy centres.

Integrate our life

Sahaja Yoga meditation aims to address emotional, mental and physical imbalance by awakening our innate spiritual potential. This is a simple but profound experience that naturally enables us to harmonise and integrate our life in a more positive way. Regular meditation naturally eliminates a lot of the inner stress and tension that we experience on a day to day basis.
