Shri Mataji
The attention has to be purified, but that you don’t have to do. Your kundalini itself purifies your attention. You become collectively conscious. Many things happen to your attention. Sitting down here you can tell about people, what’s happening to them….
Now the attention manifests itself. It’s another very remarkable thing that’s happened. Like I’m sitting here now and I’m thinking of someone …. If I want, I can think. If I don’t want, I need not think. That is the situation. But after Realisation, if somebody needs your help, you’ll just think of that person and if you think of that person, that person is helped.
Shri Mataji, 1984
Sitting down here you should be able to feel the centres of anybody you want to think of, whether dead, alive or far away. You should be able to say whether a person is a fake or if he is a real person of divinity. That means your computer – the mind that you call as the biggest computer that human beings have got – should become eloquent. Any knowledge that people give you, you should be able to say whether it is a true knowledge or not. That is what in the Vedas is called vidya. Vidya means “to be known on the nervous system”.
Shri Mataji, 1985

Shri Mataji
What is important is that you should know reality. You should know exactly what is right and what is wrong. For that, there is this great power of Kundalini within you. She is the one. She passes through all these centres – enlightens them first of all, so your awareness gets enlightened. And when she pierces through the Sahasrara, she joins you to this All-pervading Power, which is knowledge, which is love, which is truth.
So after that, you immediately know … that what we have been thinking so far, of separating ourselves from others by thinking that they are not all right, they are wrong, they are whatever it is. This disappears. This disappears completely. And then you realise that your awareness itself is dominated by so many circumstances – for example, where you were born, what your parents taught you, what experiences you have had. And then you realise that it was all wrong because it is not reality.
Whatever feelings you have, whatever ideas you have about another person or about another nation, all of them are not correct because now your Sahasrara is awakened. It is connected now to the All-pervading Power. So this starts flowing into you. This enlightened awareness, it starts flowing down into your being, in your brain and then on your nerves you can feel that awareness…
When your Sahasrara is enlightened, whatever you had gathered – knowledge, whatever you thought was right, whatever was your dream and your aims of life – all these aspirations, they melt away. And then you take to reality and you start seeing the reality of everything.

Film: “Freedom & Liberation”
Time: Friday, 27 November 2009, 7:30pm – 9:30pm
Place: Cinema for the Soul, Royal Exchange Building, 32 Bolton Street Newcastle
“Freedom and Liberation” is a film biography of Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, founder of Sahaja Yoga meditation. Inspired by her parents and Mahatma Gandhi, Shri Mataji took part in the youth movement working for resistance against the British Empire to obtain freedom for India.
Throughout her entire life, Shri Mataji always kept to her vision, one which goes beyond the political freedom of her motherland India, to a vision of inner freedom and transformation of each individual. This vision would take her to the five continents so that she could talk with ordinary people about her new method of meditation.
“Freedom and Liberation” is the work of young director, Carolin Dassel, who shows the many stages of Shri Mataji’s adventurous life in a very subtle way. The timeless impressions, beautiful music, original locations and archival material combine to produce an atmosphere of meditative authenticity.
The evening will conclude with a brief meditation session.
Program:
7:15pm: Doors open and live music
7:45pm: Screening of “Freedom & Liberation”
